Help shape support for Carers

There are many ways you can get involved with our service.

Help Tackle Health Inequalities

We’re inviting unpaid carers and people who support carers (including volunteers and professionals) to take part in Equalise—a project focused on understanding and reducing health inequalities experienced by carers.

What is Equalise?

Equalise is a project exploring why some carers experience poorer health and access to support than others—and what we can do about it.

We are working in partnership with the University of Strathclyde and Carers Trust to bring together research, data, and real-life experiences.

  • The University of Strathclyde is leading the research and holds data that helps us understand patterns in carers’ health and inequalities
  • Carers Trust brings national expertise in supporting carers and influencing change
  • Local organisations like us ensure carers’ voices are at the heart of the work

By combining research data with lived experience, we can better understand what needs to change and how to make support more equal.

Through this project, we want to:

  • Understand the different challenges carers face
  • Explore how health inequalities impact carers’ lives
  • Work with carers to develop ideas for change
  • Influence future services, support, and research

At the heart of Equalise is a simple principle: Carers are experts in their own lives and should shape the solutions.

We Want to Hear From a Diverse Range of Voices

We are especially keen to involve carers and supporters from a wide range of backgrounds and experiences, particularly those who may not usually have the opportunity to take part.

This includes people who:

  • Are from different cultural or ethnic backgrounds
  • Are younger or older carers
  • Are LGBTQ+
  • Have disabilities or long-term health conditions
  • May not currently access support services
  • Are balancing caring with work, education, or other responsibilities

We are committed to making this project inclusive, supportive, and accessible for everyone who takes part.

Why take part?

By taking part in Equalise, you can:

  • Share your experiences of caring and health
  • Help highlight inequalities that need to change
  • Influence future services and research
  • Be part of creating more inclusive support for carers
  • Connect with others who understand

Your involvement will directly contribute to improving how carers are supported.
