Sale High School

How do they support young carers in their school?

staff completed the Young Carers Training that was provided earlier this academic year, received the certificates and wear the badges on their lanyards!

They also run a Young Carers break time club every Wednesday for all of our Young Carers across all year groups. They play games, and have chats for anyone who has anything they want to talk about.

Victoria Park Junior School

How do they support young carers?

• 1:1 therapeutic session with our Learning Mentor and Mental Health First Aider
• Access to our Breakfast/After School Club (The Junior Hub)
• Prioritised for extra curricular clubs
• Personalised lunchtime clubs to tailor their needs, delivered by a TA e.g. chat & colour or cooking
• Monitored by senior leadership team and Designated Safeguarding Lead at school (discussed at termly meetings - emotional and academic wellbeing)

North Cestrian School

How do they support young carers?

  • Pastoral support from Form Tutor, Head of Key Stage, and wider pastoral team as appropriate.
  • Access to School Counsellor, (via a waiting list) if needed.
  • When we have identified a Young Carer, discussions have been held with parents and referrals made to young carers
  • Staff had attended TAF meetings when appropriate.

Stretford High School

How do they support young carers?
* Breakfast Drop-in
* 1-1 sessions if student wants/needs someone to talk to
* Hub Pass is available if student becomes emotional and needs a little time out
* School Counsellor sessions available if required
* Support with Home Learning
* Food parcels and delivery if required.
*recently delivered Young Carers assemblies to Years 7 and 8

Acre Hall Primary School

How do they support young carers?

Staff have completed young carer training.
Young Carers have been given therapeutic support and a listening ear.

Referrals to Trafford Young Carers with parents permission.

Wellacre Academy

How do they support Young carers?

  • Trafford Young Carers team come in every other half term to have 1 to 1 sessions with our identified young carers and complete drop in sessions
  • access to mentoring by Mrs Birney and the Inclusion team
  • attendance lead is informed of young carer related possible absence and lateness etc - ongoing communication
  • Young carers information on school website (under caring for your son section)
  • Remote learning provision via google classroom - so students can access learning if absent etc.
  • Access to Independent Learning club for homework support
  • Provision for young carers to make confidential phone calls when anxious about home life etc.

Our Place Based Working in Blusci Old Trafford

The service recognises that good Mental Health and Wellbeing are an integral part of every bodies life and that everyday things can improve our mental health, wellbeing, levels of happiness and life satisfaction. You can pop in on Mondays, to see and have a chat to one of our caseworkers about your mental health and caring role.

Place Based Working at The Toy House

They run various activities for early years (0 -4 year olds) as well as sessions aimed at older people and those with learning and physical disabilities. One of our caseworkers will be there on Wednesdays for you to disscuss any issues you may be experiencing and need a listening ear.

Place Based Working At Age UK Trafford

One of our Trafford Carers Centre caseworkers is around every Thursday (apart from the third Thursday of the month) to help you with any specific caring advice. Age UK Trafford offers a free and confidential information and advice service for people over 50, their families and carers aswell as groups and activities and information about financial help. Our Caseworker will be there from 11am- 12:30pm.

Place Based Work in Stretford Public Hall

Stretford Public Hall is a community-owned, multi-purpose building. Our aim is to create space for good things to happen in Stretford. One of our caseworkers will visit Stretford Public Hall every month on Thursdays for anyone who needs a friendly face and a listening ear.

Our office in Sale

One of our caseworkers are in from Monday-Friday to access some support and guidance.

Health Checks at Limelight

Our Nurse Rebecca visits Limelight once a month for those who do not have access to our office in Sale. Health checks consist of monitoring blood pressure levels, cholesterol levels, BMI, pulse as well as your mental wellbeing. Limelight offers a wide range of facilities, and services, which focus on the local community's health and wellbeing.

Gardening Group

An opportunity to grow a wide variety of fresh fruit and vegetables over two allotment plots. perfect for people who want some fresh air and don’t mind getting a bit dirty. if it is raining, the group will play board games.

Art Group

Using different medias like acrylic and watercolour to produce amazing art on canvas. You don't have to be Picasso to join in, all abilities welcome. The group is led by a former Carer, an accomplished artist, who enjoys meeting with other Carers to take time to create their artwork. You can always commission one of our artists to paint your or a loved one’s portrait.

Getting to Know You Group

A group to support carers who support someone with poor mental health. We’ll help you to better understand the cared for’s needs, ways to avoid relapsing and admission to hospital. A great opportunity to talk and meet up with our knowledgeable staff and other carers and improve your wellbeing.

Chatty Cafe at The Life Centre

Grab yourself a free cake and coffee at our chatty café. Available for all registered carers to sit down, relax and meet some new people. We are a very friendly bunch of people and will also welcome the people you care for. There is parking behind the building and public transport links are nearby.
