Sometimes the thing that carers need to help them regain control of their lives and avoid breakdown is access to resources to see them through a crisis situation. Our expert team of caseworkers work with carers to understand their needs and where possible help them to find what they need, whether it is equipment and items for the home or funding.
Carer Support Fund
At Trafford Carers Centre we have a limited pot of money available which caseworkers can apply to on behalf of a carer. The case will be made to a panel who score the applications based on stress levels, health needs, other support & services received, intensity of caring role, other additional responsibilities and how isolated the carer. The Carer Support Fund is there to ensure that those who are identified as being in or at risk of breakdown have their immediate needs met while working to find a more sustainable solution.
Carer’s Allowance is administered by the DWP and is a subsidy for people who spend a minimum 35 hours a week providing regular care to someone with a disability. To be eligible the person being cared for must be receiving a relevant benefit related to their disability and in some cases this may mean that the benefit is paid at a certain rate.
Should you be eligible for Carer’s Allowance you will receive approximately £62 a week. Turn2us has a very comprehensive guide on Carers Allowance however if you still feel you need help in understanding the terms please contact our Helpline on 0161 848 2400.
