Carer Engagement & Support Officer

Trafford Carers Centre is seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Carer Support and Engagement Officer (CSEO) to work directly with carers; particularly those at higher risk of isolation and with poor mental health.

The role will involve building strong relationships with carers, key internal staff and partners across Trafford to ensure effective co-ordination and communication of support, activities and events to enable carers to reduce the impact of the care role on their health and isolation.

The CSEO will deliver a programme of activities & events for carers with a focus on building carer resilience. This will involve building on our current range of activities including gardening group, choir and art group. You will also work with partners such as MancSpirit to deliver high quality and varied workshops designed to support carers to manage the impact of their care role.

Key deliverables:

  • Increase numbers of carers accessing TCC groups, activities and events. The role of the CSEC will bridge the gap between the carer receiving a carers assessment to accessing the support they have been offered or advised to engage with. This will be achieved by the casework team referring carers to the CSEC and followed up with a questionnaire to enable impact measurement.
  • Work in partnership with other organisations and key roles across Trafford including Social Prescribers and Neighbourhood Engagement Officers to support access to relevant groups and activities, while in turn reaching out to hidden carers identified by other parties. This role will also link in with carer consultations taking place in the next few months to co-design a specification for carer services from April 2022.
  • Streamline communications to carers, in particular regular comms to carers through online mailings, producing articles for the quarterly newsletter and contributing to social media streams.

Conditions of Work

  • Contract: 22 months (opportunity to extend related to funding)
  • Hours of work: Monday to Friday, between the hours of 9.00am – 4:30pm, with some occasional evening and weekend work, which will be compensated by time off in lieu.
  • Salary: £21,500 per annum
  • Period of notice: 1 months
  • Probation period: 6 months
