We are thrilled to announce that we have launched our very own news team led by young and adult carers.
The news team – called the Lightning Bee Reporters – are being upskilled in blog writing, social media, filming and photography and much more – so they can produce news on subjects that matter to them to share with other carers.
Media social enterprise, Yellow Jigsaw, is supporting the news team with this upskilling and the creation of the news which will be shared on our website, in our newsletter, social media and also in external media platforms.
Kirsty Day – media director of Yellow Jigsaw – who is a former MEN Media journalist – said: “We are so excited to be supporting the Lightning Bee Reporters. They are a fantastic bunch of people who have great ideas for news stories that they want to produce whether that be a blog or hitting the streets to conduct a vox pop interview with members of the public.
“We have experience of working with news team with our Media Cubs and Talking About My Generation projects and in every project that we work on, we want to help change the media landscape and give more people the tools, confidence and power to share what matters to them.”
Devan Storey, Digital Inclusions Officer, at Trafford Carers Centre, who is leading on the project, added: “It is amazing that we now have our Lightning Bee Reporters news team! Those who are part of the project will be embarking on special assignments to collect content using exciting media equipment and will have the chance to work both independently and together on a range of projects both at the carers centre and on days out together.
