On Sunday 21st September, brave supporters of Trafford Carers Centre, took to the high ropes to abseil in a bid to raise money and awareness for the unsung heroes we call Carers.

Eight brave volunteers from Trafford Carers Centre and the Chorlton Runners group took to the dizzying heights of the Bell Tower at the intu Trafford Centre and raised an amazing £1000 for the Centre, to help support the borough’s Carers.

To help reach their brilliant total, the Chorlton Runners Eco Team also spent some time on the ground, and in the kitchen, baking delicious cakes and treats to sell!

Trafford Carers Centre supports unpaid carers; those who are looking after a partner, relative, friend or neighbour, who could not manage without them.  Every year, unpaid carers save the UK economy £119 Billion, often at great personal cost.  10% of the population of Trafford (around 23,500 people) are carers, with over 5,000 of those providing over 50 hours of care a week.  Trafford Carers Centre provides information, advice and support services to carers, helping them look after their own health and wellbeing and ensuring that they are able to access a break.  For more information please visit www.traffordcarerscentre.org.uk or call 0161 848 2400.
