Another successful Carers Week.
Last week Trafford Carers Centre took their Carers Roadshow out into the borough to raise awareness and reach out to the 20,000 hidden carers living across the Trafford area. Staff at Trafford Carers visited Partington, Altrincham, Sale, Old Trafford and Urmston to showcase their new adverts on services and support available for carers and to give much needed information out about the impact being in a caring role has on an individual.
During the week staff and volunteers from the Carers Centre also held collections at Sainsbury’s in Sale, Urmston and Altrincham along with Tesco Extra in Stretford: They were able to raise a fantastic amount, just over £2,500 which will help them continue to provide vital services to all the people in Trafford supporting a loved one.
Alongside the collections, one of their carers, Lee, undertook a cycling challenge to help to raise money for Carers in Trafford. Lee was based at Sainsubry’s, Curzon Road Sale during the week, and finished the week by cycling his last 20km at Trafford Carers Centre on Sunday, cheered on by carers, staff and volunteers from the Centre. Lee raised over £300 and cycled an amazing 300km over the week!
Trafford Carers Centre would like to thank everyone that supported them during the week including Kate Green MP for Stretford and Urmston and Councillor Sophie Taylor who both attended their Family Fun Day, with a special thank you going to Simplyhealth who sponsored this event held on the Sunday.
