Think of your average day and the normal tasks that you accomplish every day. You maybe get yourself up and dressed, make your breakfast, prepare a lunch, go off to work or school, come home to have your tea, sit down and watch tv and then head off to bed. Sound familiar? What if you were looking after someone who is less mobile, who has severe learning difficulties or suffered with mental health, how do you think your day would look then?
Each year carers save the UK economy £119 billion a year truly making them our national heroes. In Trafford alone we estimate this saving to be £75 million with over 20,000 unpaid carers looking after someone with a disability, illness or frailty.
During Carers Week we will celebrate our local heroes by holding our very own Be A Hero Day, recognising and commemorating the fantastic, tiring and selfless work unpaid carers in our community do to give someone they love a better life – sometimes to the detriment of their own health. If you can’t get involved on the date given, you can hold your own Be Hero Day event at anytime in the year.
What is Be a Hero Day?
Be A Hero Day along with the Jingle Juggle is Trafford Carers Centre’s flagship fundraising event to raise money to support unpaid carers right here in Trafford. We’re asking all of our supporters, old and new to dress up as their hero, show off their baking skills or do something great like help someone out with a random act of kindness, all to raise money for carers who are our very own everyday heroes.
Register today for your fundraising pack which has everything you need to get you started including tips, guides and posters. Your fundraising team at Trafford Carers centre will be on hand to give you all the advice and support you need. So sign up today and be a hero.

Each year we need to raise £150,000 to offer extended services to unpaid carers in Trafford that will help to feel fully supported in their role. In particular the funds raised over our 20for20 Appeal will be used to improve and develop the Health & Wellbeing services available for carers.
Make it go further!
To help raise even more funds, ask everyone who is eligible, to gift aid their donation.
For every £1 donated the government will give us an extra 28p increasing you donation by almost a third at no extra cost to you!
