In February half term, Carers Trust and CBBC kindly arranged a fantastic day out to see the CBBC Studios for our young carers from Trafford, Salford and Sheffield. The group was given special backstage access and met many of the presenters.
The day started with a brief introduction and moved on to the BBC Studios with the chance to sit in the hot seat! Our young carers all got the chance to have some ‘casualty style’ make up done with war wounds and bruises, from some of the top professionals – one of the ladies has won a BAFTA for her special effects make up.
There was a tour of the Blue Peter Studios and access to the Gallery to see how production and planning works. They talked with some of the actors in between practice takes and even got signed memorabilia from the day! They also saw the CBeebies Studios and met Rozzie, a producer for CBBC.
Towards the end of the day young carers were introduced to the BBC Director and Researcher and had a talk about their career paths as well as seeing how Newsround finds the ‘big stories’ to film. The young carers were given the chance to ask some interesting questions.
At the end of the day our young carers were given a special preview screening of a never before seen brand new episode that the CBBC have been working on – with some popcorn to go with!
Everyone got a lovely CBBC bag full of goodies and signed memorabilia from the day.
